2015 – Cahors Blues Festival
Pour son travail acharné et sa capacité à transmettre sa passion au travers du plus ancien festival de Blues français – il a été bénévole pendant 8 ans avant d’en devenir Président, pour son enthousiasme hérité du fondateur et ancien Président Gérard Tertre et grâce à la contribution inestimable de tous les bénévoles, pour avoir rendu possible le voyage de plusieurs personnes dans le Delta du Mississippi afin de découvrir la vie des musiciens et la place du Blues aux Etats-Unis, pour avoir reçu un « Mississippi Blues Trail Marker » délivré par l’Etat du Mississippi, le prix, dans la catégorie « Promoteur », est attribué à Robert MAURIES, président du Cahors Blues Festival.
For his strong work to transmit his passion through the eldest Blues Festival in France (he joined it since 8 years as volunteer) to a maximum of people following the traces of founder and president Geratd Tertre together with the priceless contribution of all volunteers, also giving the opportunity to some people to travel to Mississippi delta to study the situation of bluesmen and blues music in the USA and receiving a Mississippi Blues Trail Marker from Mississippi Government authority. The winner in Promoters category is ROBERT MAURIES, president and director of Cahors Blues Festival.
2017 – David Baerst
Pour son implication dans la promotion du blues en tant que DJ depuis 1998 avec Route 66, une radio associative de Colmar (Alsace), mais aussi pour son travail d’auteur et de reporter avec quelques centaines d’interviews d’artistes européens et américains, le Blues Behind The Scenes Award 2017 dans la catégorie Media est attribué à David Baerst de Route 66 Radio.
For his involvement in promoting the blues as a DJ since 1998 at Route 66, a non-profit radio in Colmar (Region of Alsace), but also for his work as writer and interviewer with hundreds of interviews to European and American musicians, the winner in Media Category is David Baerst from Route 66 Radio (France)
2018 – Jean Guillermo
Le conseil d’administration de l’EBU a décidé de décerner un Award spécial en 2018.
Fondateur bénévole à plein temps d’un grand festival de blues de 17 jours, avec un mélange de concerts, d’actions sociales et de blues dans les écoles, il a travaillé jour après jour pendant une période de 12 ans pour apporter le blues à tous les niveaux de l’éducation, dans les pour sans-abris, dans les prisons et dans les hôpitaux … afin de toucher le cœur et l’esprit de toute la population avec la puissance, l’influence et l’impact du blues !
Il a proposé et facilité un accord entre quatre festivals européens pour l’échange d’artistes nationaux. Parallèlement, il s’est rendu chaque année à Memphis de 2008 à 2012 pour choisir non seulement le vainqueur de l’IBC mais aussi d’autres groupes pour jouer dans le festival qu’il a créé, initié et administré seul « dans sa cuisine » en 1999 et qui, un an plus tard, avait 2 puis 4 employés à temps plein.
En 2010, il s’est porté volontaire pour devenir l’un des 6 membres fondateurs de l’European Blues Union (EBU). Il a occupé le poste de vice-président pendant six ans et est toujours membre du conseil d’administration de l’EBU.
En 2011, avec 14 amis, il fonde France Blues, la Société Blues Nationale Française, impliquée dans la reconnaissance publique et la visibilité de la musique et des musiciens de blues en France, en Europe et dans le monde, en exportant ses «talents» partout dans le monde.
Dans la communauté internationale du blues, il est considéré comme la personne qui facilite efficacement le meilleur des relations entre festivals, stations de radio / deejays, lieux / clubs, magazines / presse écrite et artistes blues, faisant toujours de son mieux pour aider les musiciens français à jouer dans toute l’Europe, mais aussi au Canada et aux États-Unis.
Pour toutes les raisons mentionnées ici, il est l’une des personnes les plus respectées, efficaces, influentes et appréciées dans la communauté internationale du blues, non seulement par les musiciens mais aussi par une multitude de personnalités de blues très visibles.
Pour tout ce qu’il a fait au fil des années, si quelqu’un mérite un Blues Behind the Scenes Award … C’est Jean Guillermo !
This year board have decided to give a special Outstandig Contribution Award
Founder on a full time volunteer basis of a huge blues festival, 17 days long, with a mix of night gigs/performances of blues musicians and in social services and blues in the schools activities, he consistently worked day-after-day over a period of 12 years to bring blues music into all levels of education to homeless shelters, jails and prisons, and hospitals … touching the hearts and minds of the entire citizenry with the power, influence, and impact of the blues!
He proposed and facilitated an agreement to 4 European Festivals for exchanging national artists. At the same time, he went to Memphis every year from 2008 to 2012 to choose not only the winner of IBC but also other bands to play to the festival he created, initiated, and administered alone “in his kitchen” in 1999 and which, a year later, had 2 then 4 full time employees.
In 2010, he volunteered to become one of the 6 founding members of the European Blues Union (EBU). He acted as Vice-President for 6 years, and is still a Board Member of the EBU organization.
In 2011, with 14 friends, he founded France Blues, the French national Blues Society, involved in getting a public recognition and visibility for blues music and musicians in France, in Europe, and worldwide, by exporting our ‘home talents’ all over the world.
In the international blues community, he is relied upon as the person who effectively facilitates the best of relationships between festivals, radio stations/deejays, venues/clubs, magazines/print media, and blues artists, always doing his best to help French musicians to play throughout Europe, and also in Canada and USA.
For all of the many reasons outlined herein, he is one of the most respected, well-liked, effective, influential, and appreciated persons in the international blues community, not only by musicians but also by a variety of highly visible blues personalities.
For all he has done over the years If anyone deserves a Blues Behind the Scenes Award… It’s Jean Guillermo!
2020 – Aurélie Roquet
Fondatrice et « patronne » de On The Road Again, la première agence d’organisation et de gestion de tournées en France pour les artistes blues, soul et afro-américains.
Avec un catalogue qui comprend la crème des artistes français, européens, scandinaves et américains, Aurélie et son équipe sont reconnues et appréciées par les artistes et les organisateurs de festivals et de lieux qui font toujours un effort supplémentaire pour essayer d’aider.
Qu’il s’agisse d’animer des événements individuels ou d’organiser des tournées nationales ou internationales, Aurélie répond à toutes les exigences d’accompagnement et de logistique ainsi qu’à la bonne prise en charge des artistes dont elle a la charge.
